WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

As anyone who has participated in UConn's Education Abroad in Cape Town will tell you, there are no words to adequately explain the depth of the experiences, no narratives to sufficiently describe the hospitality of the people, and no pictures to begin to capture the exquisite scenery. Therefore this blog is only intended to provide an unfolding story of the those co-educators who are traveling together as companions on this amazing journey.

As Resident Director of this program since 2008 it is once again my privilege and honor to accompany another group of remarkable students to this place I have come to know and love.

In peace, with hope,

Alex Z feeling her week with adventures

It’s so great to be back in Cape Town. Even being away for a few days and then seeing the mountain and the ocean line the coast just warms my heart. On Monday, Simon, Abby and I went to Sticks for the jazz concert at dinner, which was fantastic. The burgers Abby and I ordered sweetened the deal quite a bit. I was able to Facetime my Dad for the first time, since he just got a new smartphone. It’s always hilarious to watch people figure out technology for the first time. I brought mom (Molly the RA) to work with me on Tuesday and absolutely loved watching her face light up while interacting with any of the animals. When feeding the nemos, she giggled so much, I caught myself doing it. The aquarium never ceases to release your inner three year old. We received our itineraries for Johannesburg, and I’m pretty excited to see other parts of this amazing country. Also, really really excited for the safaris!
