WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

As anyone who has participated in UConn's Education Abroad in Cape Town will tell you, there are no words to adequately explain the depth of the experiences, no narratives to sufficiently describe the hospitality of the people, and no pictures to begin to capture the exquisite scenery. Therefore this blog is only intended to provide an unfolding story of the those co-educators who are traveling together as companions on this amazing journey.

As Resident Director of this program since 2008 it is once again my privilege and honor to accompany another group of remarkable students to this place I have come to know and love.

In peace, with hope,

Kayla couldn't be happier

I have finally arrived in Cape Town and I couldn’t be happier! I was pretty nervous for our flights but traveling was actually much simpler and quicker than anticipated. It really helped traveling in the group because we all helped one another and made sure everyone was accounted for. I packed a little bit too much so having some helping hands was definitely very nice! So far, I have absolutely no complaints. Our house is beautiful and extremely spacious. Not to mention the pool is very nice to come back to after a long day. We have been doing a lot of sight seeing such as going to popular beaches like Boulder’s Beach (penguins!) and seeing museums such as the District Six Museum. We have been to really nice restaurants such as an Ethiopian restaurant called Addis that was amazing and I would definitely recommend to anyone in Cape Town! It was my first time trying Ethiopian food but I have a feeling it will not be my last. Overall, my experience in Cape Town so far has been extremely positive and I’m having a great time!
