Welcome to Our Blog

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

As anyone who has participated in UConn's Education Abroad in Cape Town will tell you, there are no words to adequately explain the depth of the experiences, no narratives to sufficiently describe the hospitality of the people, and no pictures to begin to capture the exquisite scenery. Therefore this blog is only intended to provide an unfolding story of the those co-educators who are traveling together as companions on this amazing journey.

As Resident Director of this program since 2008 it is once again my privilege and honor to accompany another group of remarkable students to this place I have come to know and love.

In peace, with hope,
Marita McComiskey, PhD

Kayla thinks it's great that she has no idea what to expect

Hi everyone I’m Kayla Ahmed! I’m a sophomore double majoring in Political Science and Human Rights. I wanted to study abroad somewhere I’ve never been before and somewhere with a completely different culture to experience. Since I’ve heard nothing but great things about Cape Town, I decided to participate on this program.

I am so excited to participate in an internship while studying abroad. My internship will be working to advocate for women’s issues, which is an interest I have become very passionate about in recent years. I am so excited to meet everyone who will also be on this study abroad program and hopefully grow very close to them as well.

Immediately after finding out I was accepted, I’m pretty sure I told just about everyone I know! Right now I am extremely excited to have been accepted on the program and have committed. I really have no idea what to expect but I think that’s the best part.
