Welcome to Our Blog

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

As anyone who has participated in UConn's Education Abroad in Cape Town will tell you, there are no words to adequately explain the depth of the experiences, no narratives to sufficiently describe the hospitality of the people, and no pictures to begin to capture the exquisite scenery. Therefore this blog is only intended to provide an unfolding story of the those co-educators who are traveling together as companions on this amazing journey.

As Resident Director of this program since 2008 it is once again my privilege and honor to accompany another group of remarkable students to this place I have come to know and love.

In peace, with hope,
Marita McComiskey, PhD

Libby is ready to go!

My name is Libby DiDomizio, I am an Allied Health major with a concentration in Public Health, and I am a junior here at UConn. The reason I decided to participate in this program is because I wanted to study abroad, but I also wanted that experience to have an impact on my career. The South Africa study abroad program involves the participants being placed in an internship, which I hope mine to be at a hospital. I believe this will give me hands on experience that will benefit me greatly once I move on after college. What I hope to accomplish through this program is not only gaining valuable experience that will help me in my career, but also to be immersed in a whole new culture and learn from and about the world outside the U.S. borders.  Knowing that I have been accepted into this program is definitely a great feeling because I know I’m about to have the most amazing experience of my life! There is no opportunity more incredible than this and I know it will change who I am as a person for the better. This program has so much to offer and I absolutely cannot wait to take full advantage! I just wish our depature date was sooner, I’m ready to go!
