Hi everyone!
My name is Mary McNally and I'm a junior Psychology major and Human Rights
minor. I decided to participate in this program because it is so unique; it
allows you to become immersed in a completely new culture while gaining
experience working in an internship. I am interested in social justice and
human rights, so this program seemed like the perfect opportunity to get
involved and further explore this area. I also went to the symposium of
students who went on the trip last year and was impressed by how passionate
they were and how much they loved it. It showed me how impactful this program
is and made me want to go even more!
I am hoping
this trip allows me to gain deeper insight into South Africa, with its rich
culture, history, societal issues, and more. I want to gain hands-on experience
tackling social issues and truly helping others. I hope studying abroad will
help me grow as a person and gain a new perspective of the world. I know it
will definitely have a big impact on me, and I look forward to carrying these
experiences and building off them in the future.
Now that I
have been accepted into the program, I am so excited for January to come! I
can't wait to get to know everyone and begin this adventure together!
